The
Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) is the main character in the book of the
same name, written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Saint-Exupéry was from
French origin and lived from 1900 to 1944. Besides being a talented
writer, he was also a pilot. He gave his share in those years to make (French)
aviation prosper and grow. He wrote a high number of articles and books.
For this, he found inspiration in his personal struggle for life, as
well as in his struggle in aviation. Terre des Hommes is one of his
books, but the wonderful, modern fairytale The Little Prince is
generally seen as his masterpiece. This book has been translated in a
number of languages, including Japanese and Chinese.
The
narrator tells us about his meeting with a small prince, after he made
an emergency landing in the desert. The magical stories that the little
prince shares with us have, a fantastically uncomplicated basis. The
stories are timeless. The book is highly recommended for any person that
still feels his or her child inside.
Saint-Exupéry
was killed in action on a reconnaissance mission on July 31, 1944 while
flying his Lockheed P38 “Lightning” over the Mediterranean Sea. The
cause of his crash was never resolved.
